The site is from a consulting firm, which is participating on the development of the standard.

Following the alarm topic, another paper related to the IEC 60601-1-8 standard has a revision of the usability studies with equipment that conforms to the requirements and the conclusion is: the standard may confuse more than help.

A paper about standard IEC 60601-1-8 was published in the August / 2006 edition of Medical Device & Diagnostic Industry - (MDDI).
For those who do not know, IEC 60601-1-8 is a collateral standard (a general standard for medical devices which captures an aspect of those devices) of the general standard IEC 60601-1. It has requirements for alarm systems in medical electrical equipment and systems.

The German comittee of the IEC proposed a new standard (i don´t know if it will be a collateral or a standard outside the 60601 series) related do technology informatio (IT) networks incorporating medical devices. The title of the proposal is: :”Application of risk managemente for IT-Networks incorporating medical devices”.
